Red Cross retail store manager Judy Webber said volunteer staff are taking are precautionary measures to keep the store and products safe.

"We are adhering to the social distancing measures and are only allowed to have 10 people in the store including volunteers," she said.

"The staff are making sure the store and items are clean and santised because we want people to remain positive and protected when they walk into the store."

Ms Webber said they are encouraging people to hand donated items to staff or at the bin out the front of the store.

"We are accepting men's and women's clothing but no children's clothing or toys," she said.

"The items go through a 72-hour quarantine process where it is steamed and cleaned before it hits the shelves.

"If people would like to donate, we are looking for good quality and clean winter clothing, blankets and any other items that will keep people warm during winter."

Ms Webber added the volunteers are happy to be back at the store.

"We have 31 volunteers and when they found out the store was reopening they were jumping for joy," she said.

The retail store is open from Monday to Friday between 9am and 4pm and on Saturday between 9am and 2pm.
