The mountain is iconic, and a key component of the region's tourism, however there are many who feel it's underutilised.
Those who hike or even camp there and love it's serenity and beauty obviously fear this being eroded by bike riders frequenting the area or the kind of infrastructure needed for a chair lift as some have proposed.
As the Canobolas Conservation Alliance told the Central Western Daily any plans also need to account for endangered species on the mountain - some of which live nowhere else on earth.
In reality there are a lot of factors to be considered before a decision is made on the future of the mountain.
Bike trails don't have to be destructive or intrusive, if properly planned and used, and can provide an additional activity for locals and tourist to enjoy.
Let's ensure enough time, research and planning goes into any changes to the mountain's use because any decisions made now have the ability to impact this amazing resource for generations to come.
