Borrodell Estate vineyard is gaining a new bar, to be known as Sky Bar, on top of a function centre that will give clients a great view of the area.
Owner Borry Gartrell joked people would be able to see as far as the Indian Ocean out one window and the Sydney Harbour Bridge from another.
"It's the smartest bar west of the mountains," he said.
He said the work was still several weeks from completion allowing for landscaping to be done in the area.
Mr Gartrell said the roof would be going on soon.
'It's a fairly substantial building," he said.
Mr Gartrell said it would provide a lounge area for people staying at the winery.
Apart from its cellar door operations Borodell Estate has a restaurant on site and hosted wedding and functions.
The winery also hosts concerts and provides accommodation.
Its signature events include truffle hunting days.
Mr Gartrell said the bar was part of the improvements happening at the Lake Canobolas Road site.
"We have some big changes here," he said.
That included more room to facilitate weddings at the venue.
He said the coronavirus lockdown, which saw winery cellar doors nearly empty for several weeks, had allowed them to concentrate on the building project.
"It's given us a chance to have trucks and cranes on site," he said.
"We've made the most of the time we've got."
The winery also created a piece of history when an image of the vineyards was chosen to be on the Australian version of the Monopoly game in 2017.
Nearly 1000 people voted for Orange to beat Coffs Harbour, Byron Bay and Lord Howe Island to score a place alongside Sydney Harbour in the game.
And because NSW locations received more votes than any other states they scored the premium blue places on the board - occupied by Mayfair [Sydney Harbour] and Park Lane [Orange] in the English version.
