Snow is predicted to flurry around the 1200m mark on Sunday night, following a forecast of possible hail and rain on Sunday afternoon.
The city will shiver on Monday, too, with a top temperature of just 5 degrees predicted.
The coldest June day Orange has experienced was a maximum of 2.5 degrees on the 30th, back in 1977.
Ahead of the bleak conditions, a sheep graziers warning is in place with cold temperatures, showers and westerly winds expected during to kick off the working week.
The harsh conditions are being brought about by a pool of cold air left by a front crossing the southeast corner of Australia during the weekend.
The forecast cool blast comes after 19.2mm was recorded at the Bureau of Meteorology's base at the Orange Airport, with around the 15mm mark falling in other parts of the city, like west Orange.
A total of 52.4mm of rain has fallen in Orange to start winter, which is near the 77.2mm long term average for June.
