Hawks gun Ethan McKellar and CYMS' Ethan Bereyne have both approached Orange United skipper Kurt Beahan about playing for the side if the Group 10 competition folds.
Beahan has build the United side for its first season in the Wallerawang Landscaping Cup, with the club only formed at the back end of last year, and is excited by the prospect of having two Group 10 stars in his ranks.
The two may be able to sign on if Group 10 didn't go ahead and their clubs agreed to release them - something which is looking increasingly likely.
"Both blokes are big bodies that are extremely mobile," Beahan said.
"They're both aggressive and hate losing and would fit nicely into our squad, our backline off the back of those guys would be exciting to watch."
Group 10 may pull the pin on this year due to clubs' concerns around how to be financially viable while sponsors and gate earnings are hit due to coronavirus restrictions, with Tuesday night's meeting set to make that call.
The cup clubs are expecting to be able to recruit from Group 10 sides should that competition fold, and Beahan said United had already been in talks with McKellar and Bereyne about jumping across to the first-year club.
While cup squads may have a cap on the number of Group 10 players they can sign, Beahan said if he could bring anyone to Orange United it'd be former premiership teammate Ben McAlpine.
"I played alongside him for many years and one one or two premierships with him ... he's top of the list of the players I'd bring in if I could," Beahan said.
He joked despite his age - "Benny's been trying to retire for as long as I have" - Beahan said McAlpine would be a force on and off the field for United.
Clubs will meet this week to discuss safety precautions around the upcoming season, but Beahan had been given every indication it would go ahead.
He said the prospect of the competition being the biggest rugby league game in the region would do wonders for the cup's profile moving forward.
