The events are slated for July 4 and 18 and even tough ODFA president Tony Mileto is excited about the prospect of football returning to the region, he's sticking to the safety-first approach he's had all along.
"It's exciting times for the kids," Mileto said.
"We've been getting a lot of inquiries saying they want to get in and play but we've still go to be responsible and take a measured approach.
"The environment the kids play at still needs to be safe."
A topic of conversation surrounding the return of sports to the Central West is what sort of personnel will be required to be present at the playing grounds and Mileto says they'll have COVIDsafe officials around the grounds come game day.
"We'll provide officials to each game and it will be their responsibility to monitor things like social distancing," he said.
"They'll be given instructions on what we require and what we require will coincide with what the government requires."
"Everyone needs to understand their obligations and we're taking our obligations seriously."
Mileto is interested in how the gala days will pan out logistically and says they're a good trial run before the real thing starts later on.
"It's a test run for us but also a test run for the players and others involved," he said.
"It gives people an opportunity to ease into the sport and see how they can handle the restrictions."
Only teams and players currently registered in the ODFA unders 5s-under 11s competitions will be eligible to play in the gala day events.
If teams can't field full sides, they may use other players within their clubs to make up a team.
On each day, each team will play two or three games (subject to number of team registrations).
Games will be played under normal MiniRoos rules. Game times may be shortened to allow more games. First games to commence at 9.30am.
Those wanting to register are encouraged to email administrator@orangefootball.org.au with the following information: age group and team name - coaches/managers name and contact details - preferred date to play (you can nominate and play on both days).
Registration closing dates for the Gala day on July 4 is Saturday June 20, while closing dates for the July 18 gala day is June 27. Draws will be available from the ODFA website on the Wednesday before each Gala Day.
