One of the organisers Eloise Beath said she was overwhelmed by the positive response the protest received on Facebook which she was using to help coordinate the event.
"There were a number of reasons the event could not go ahead including legalities, time constraints and COVID-19," she said.
"We do encourage everyone to continue to educate one another and themselves."
More than 200 people had expressed an interested in attending the event since it went live on Facebook on June 3.
Miss Beath added that at this stage organisers were unable to commit to a new date.
"We appreciate everyone's enthusiasm and believe the day would have been a huge success," she said.
