The 44-year-old man, who cannot be identified because he is on the register, failed to disclose to police the names and ages of teenagers he had been spending time with.
He came to police attention during a traffic stop in Orange where a check revealed he was a registerable person.
The man told police he had been regularly driving around teenage girls so they could buy cigarettes, alcohol and drugs.
His original offence also related to a teenage girl.
The assault, which was against a male, also came to police attention as a result of the traffic stop after police officers went through his phone.
The man was given six 18-month intensive correction orders and 100 hours of community service for the assault and breaches.
The sentence is a community-based custodial order and if breached the man could serve the remainder of his sentence in jail.
