Those in the know, in this case Lilli Phillips, will tell you it's like "having a game of rugby on their back", such is the unorthodox style it requires to ride an animal so stubborn it spits and sits at the drop of a hat.
Never mind the whole one-hump thing.
And after spending a year at Chris Hill's Uluru camel tour farm, Miss Phillips and Summah O'Callagan have developed a love for that challenge. So much so, they've taken it to a new level.
... not too many people get to compete in the cup and this was a massive effort.

The pair rode in Saturday's 2020 Camel Cup Race Day at Uluru in the Northern Territory.
Lilli's mother, Nyasa Phillips said she was a little nervous ahead of Saturday's race and was determined to be there to support her daughter but the coronavirus restrictions made that mission impossible.
Instead, she and Bettina O'Callaghan set up camp at Spring Terrace to watch the event.
"Unfortunately, we weren't able to cross the borders because of the COVID-19 restrictions," she said.
"Instead, we spent $200 to hook up the Wifi cable from the house out to the bar to watch the girls race on the Youtube live stream."
Ms Phillips said she is incredibly proud of her daughter for competing in the race for the first time.
First place in the cup was Lara Villarreal from Germany riding Tex, second place was Pascal Connor from Sydney riding Golden Nugget, and third place was Summah O'Callaghan riding Tim Tam.
"She told me she wasn't too sure if she was going to win and I told her not too many people get to compete in the cup and this was a massive effort," she said.
When Lilli and Summah finished high school, Ms Phillips got in touch with her friend Chris Hill who runs a camel farm in Uluru.
And they're association with the dromedary began there.
"I asked the girls if there were interested in a gig to help out Chris and they've been there for nearly a year now," she said.
Tex took out the 2020 Uluru Camel Cup, knocking off two-time champion Golden Nugget in the final.
