St Vincent de Paul Society northwest region director Phil Donnan said social distancing measures will be in order to keep staff and community members safe.

"We have reconfigured the store layout, implemented santisation stations and staff will limit how many people are allowed in," he said.

"We still want to make sure people can access assistance but we abide by the regulations to continue the store's operation."

He said the store will be opened from Monday to Friday between 10am to 3pm and on Saturdays from 9:30am to 12:30pm.

Mr Donnan also said Vinnies is calling out for new volunteers to assist the service.

"Many of our store volunteers fall into the vulnerable and over 70 years categories and we are looking for community members who have the time to be trained and help at the store," he said.

"Our volunteers are busting to get back to work and they are keen to return but as we don't have enough people power we are unable to return to normal working hours.

"As we open and anticipate more people at the store it means staff and volunteers will have to be vigilant about cleaning protocols for the health and safety of the community."

He also said the store is accepting donated items and has restocked items ahead of winter but there is a quarantine process involved.

"At this time, we won't be able to pick up the donations, but we are accepting it at the store and collecting it from the donation bins," Mr Donnan said.

"We are implementing a minimum 48-hour quarantine process for all items in the store, sanitising them and placing on shelves and limiting the amount of staff contact with the items as well to minimize cross-contamination."

The Salvation Army store manager Col Barnes said the store is also accepting donated items from the community.

"From Monday to Friday between 10am to 2pm we will be open to take items," he said.

"However, if we are inundated with donations, there will be a sign at the door to say we are full."
