With eisteddfod performances scheduled for the Orange Civic Theatre and the first of the subscription season shows moved back to September it is hoped the first act is not too far away.
Orange Civic Theatre performing arts manager Michelle Pearce said she was waiting on the state government to announce when people could return to the theatre.
She said they had been told nothing could happen before August 14 due to coronavirus social distancing restrictions banning crowds at venues.
I have cancelled or moved 94 shows.

But now she is waiting for that to be updated.
"People are very keen to get back to the theatre," she said.
"I have cancelled or moved 94 shows.
"A large percentage of them have been moved into 2021."
Ms Pearce said many subscribers had been happy to have their bookings moved to new dates instead of seeking refunds.
At the moment the first performances planned are for solo dance and other non-group performances for the City of Orange Eisteddfod from August 17.
Shows currently scheduled for the resumption of the 20202 theatre subscription season include the Imperial Russian Ballet Company's performance of The Nutcracker and Don Quixote on September 10.
Comedian Anh Do is scheduled to perform his show, The Happiest Refugee Live on September 15.
The Orange Theatre Company's production of Mamma Mia has been shifted to October.
It has nine performances, including matinees, scheduled for October 16-25.
While some comedy shows have been cancelled the acclaimed The Wharf Review 2020: Good Night and Good Luck is scheduled for October 3-4.
Music fans will also be catered for once the coronavirus restrictions are lifted.
The Leaving Jackson - The Johnny Cash and June Carter Show is scheduled for October 10. And Running in the Shadows - The Fleetwood Mac Show, an acclaimed cover band, are listed for November 21.
Ms Pearce said she was also now looking at next year's season.
