The new Totally Local complex would feature a function centre, bar, hotel/motel accommodation, 10 new shops and parking for 155 cars.
The aim is to support local farmers and food and drink producers and provide an outlet for local fare, essentially as an 'everyday farmers market'.
- Development application to Orange City Council
A development application for the plan, which would include demolishing several existing buildings and some trees, has been lodged with Orange City Council and is now on public display.
The DA states it is planned the site would become a hub for the production, sale and consumption of local food and drink.
"The aim is to support local farmers and food and drink producers and provide an outlet for local fare, essentially as an 'everyday farmers market," it said.
"To enhance the experience and complement the overall theme it is also proposed to provide tourist and visitor accommodation within the site as well as provide a small bar in conjunction with the existing craft brewery."
The accommodation would consist of 13 standalone, single-bedroom units on either side of the main building plus the conversion of an existing dwelling into a pair of two-bedroom units with a reception area and manager's accommodation.
Apart from several buildings being demolished the DA states an existing food transport business will stop operating from the site.
Under the plans the demolished structures would be replaced by a new building to the north of the current main shop and cafe/restaurant area and house eight shops.
Two more would be created by converting an existing building.
Proposed shop uses include take away food, a cafe, neighbourhood shops, agricultural produce and a commercial bakery.
The DA is on display until June 5.
