The annual Red Shield Doorknock Appeal will take part as a Digital Doorknock to raise money for the organisation.
Ms Cathcart said she the fundraiser will not only take place on the weekend of May 23 and 24 but rather for the rest of May.
"This initiative allows people to reach the organisation in new innovative ways with their own fundraiser, donate to the local Salvos or contribute what you can to the Salvation Army,' she said.
"People from the community can also start their own fundraiser and set a target of how much they want to raise for the Salvos."
Ms Cathcart also said schools across Orange have signed up to take part in the digital doorknock and help people in need during this time.
"So far, Orange Christian School and Orange Anglican Grammar School have signed up," she said.
"We have encouraged students to be creative and innovative with their digital campaigns.
"We have been impressed with the students' initiative to support the Salvos through the doorknock appeal in previous years and it will be interesting to see what the students come up with for their fundraisers."
