But for the Orange District Basketball Association in 2020, their indoor home-court at the PCYC is the reason they're still unable to lock in a start date for the delayed winter season.
Rugby league, soccer, union and other field sports all have more wiggle room due to the government's increased leniency on outdoor activity but in the case of basketball, the ODBA is in a bit of a pickle.
"There's no possibility in the near future for us," ODBA president Gerard Power said.
"I had a hook-up with Orange City Council this morning and they said the same thing.
"PCYC has completely shut down too and if it is to re-open, it could be a logistical nightmare for them due to the multiple codes that share that stadium."
It's a painful process for basketball players and fans at Orange right now but the group that might be feeling the pinch more than anyone is the Trojans' A-grade outfit as their side relinquished its run of 13-straight premierships on Sunday.
The O-Town Royals claimed the trophy as they held the competition league when the season was forced to an early finish line by the COVID-19 wave and ODBA recently ruled that all clubs on top of their respective ladders at the time would be crowned champions.
"They [Trojans] were jovial about it... they understand that it's where we're at at this point in time," said Power.
"We were one week away from the finals and that's when they pull all their big guns out."
The association is now full steam ahead for the winter competition and even though there hasn't been a start date locked in, that won't stop Power's committee from doing what they can to make sure things are in order for when the season finally rolls around.
"At this point in time there's not much we can do other than set things up for when full contact competition returns," he said.
"I'll be on a phone hook-up again on Thursday and I'll feed information from that back to the executives.
"We've got to go through these layers and levels before we go back to full contact."
