Many health professionals are seeing significant growth in the number of patients seeking treatment and support for their mental health.
Research modelling conducted by Sydney University's Brain and Mind Centre, backed by the Australian Medical Association, suggests there may be a 25 per cent increase in suicides and likely 30 per cent of those will be among young people.
Headspace Orange centre manager Kelly Dent said new referrals have slowed down recently but they are continuing to support mental health in the region.
"We have adapted our services due to the coronavirus and would like the community to know that we are here and open online," she said.
"As some people may have lost their jobs, struggle to study or need the extra support, it can be really hard for young people in isolation to stay healthy and connected."
