This year, he'll have only a handful of visitors as part of coronavirus restrictions, but extraordinarily for 104-year-old Mr Guy, it's not his first birthday during a global pandemic.
Mr Guy, who was born in Binnaway, turned two during the Spanish Flu in 1918 and while doesn't remember it himself, said coronavirus has caused the biggest societal change he's seen in his 104 years.
"I was only thinking the things I've lived through - locust plagues and rabbit plagues, world wars, a dozen smaller wars and they've been quite a few changes," Mr Guy said.
"Nothing nearly as bad as what we're enduring now."
"I think this coronavirus is exceptional in the way its affected society and its touched the way we live our lifestyle."
Plenty of international leaders have compared coronavirus to fighting a way, and Mr Guy said World War 2 was the closest comparison he could think of.
"It's an exceptional period we're going through ... it's affected everybody," he said.
Like the war, Mr Guy said people have had to "change their lives" by giving up social activities and sporting events, but coronavirus has had an even harsher impact on social life.
"I think we did a lot of work to support our troops in the field charity-wise, people who were left behind we made sure we looked after them and in those days we organised food baskets for the troops over there," he said.
"We used to run functions and dances and so on to raise money and all that."
Mr Guy said he'd been able to keep busy during lockdown, keeping up with the news, the economy and watching horse racing - having a long association with the sport of kings in Binnaway - but admitted he was "sadly lacking when it comes to computers", meaning he hadn't had many video calls.
"It's hard that our movements are restricted and we're denied access to family and friends."
