It comes as another iconic property, Mena, has been temporarily withdrawn from sale and another CBD property hit the market for more than $1 million.
The Hermitage, in Woodward Street opposite the Emus rugby club fields, was built in 1886.
Two real estate agents Fitzgerald Estate Agents and McCormack Barber real estate have the property listed.
Fitzgerald Estate Agents director Josh Fitzgerald said a price had not yet been set.
"It will in the high [one] millions, maybe two," he said.
Mr Fitzgerald said there had been buyer interest from several sources.
"We've had some people looking at it who are farmers wanting to move into the city," he said.
Mr Fitzgerald said he was also expecting interest from buyers from Sydney.
He said with the property sitting on a large 1635 square metre block the space would appeal to families.
Mr Fitzgerald said the current owners bought the property from the Webster family in 2006. "It was owned by the Websters who owned the [adjacent] little garage. They sold that off and kept the mechanic's place."
It's absolutely one of Orange's most prestigious houses.

He said it was originally built for Dr Maude in 1886 and his initials still feature on the front of the house.
Mr Fitzgerald said the property was extensively renovated in 2011.
He said it had six bedrooms, four bathrooms, seven fireplaces, 10-foot high ceilings and a large open plan living, kitchen and dining room with a butler's pantry.
McCormack Barber real estate director Peter McCormack said it was an iconic house in the area.
"It's absolutely one of Orange's most prestigious houses," he said.
Mr McCormack said it would likely have been a rural house when it was built.
Meanwhile another iconic Orange home, Mena, at 50 Kite Street, has been withdrawn from sale due to the coronavirus.
Real estate agent Ash Brown, director of One Agency Orange said the property had been temporarily withdrawn.
"It will come back on the market around spring time. The owner was concerned about people coming through his home during this period. He decided to withdraw it from the market until there was more certainty and probably more confidence in the market," he said.
Mena has been on sale since April last year with a price guide understood to be about $2 million.
Another just-listed Orange property is expected to break the $1 million price level.
A four-bedroom house at 125 March Street has been listed by the Professionals Orange for $1.049 million.
Professionals director Pat Cutcliffe said it was a fully-renovated property built about 1920-1930 only two blocks from the CBD.
"It's been absolutely meticulously renovated. It retains most of its original features."
