It is hoped the weeks that have lapsed since the peak of the original cases have seen these patients well on the way to full recovery at home.
Next hurdle is the unknown, those cases who have not shown symptoms. They are the delayed fuse many medical people fear could lead to a resurgence.
Nevertheless it is also hoped an expanded capacity of testing might even bring that to an acceptable level.
Slowly but surely, the talk now turns to recovery.
There are many ideas and priorities but rectifying some of the economic damage done will be on many people's minds, even if it will take much longer than simply lifting restrictions.
Nevertheless Orange, like much of wider Australia, has the knowledge that its restraint and compliance have wrought a victory in terms of human lives saved.
The ordeal has also generated widespread resilience and inspiring community spirit.
