A man is dead after his truck careered down a six-metre embankment and hit a tree north of Lithgow on Thursday morning.

Emergency services were contacted after a motorist came across a single-vehicle crash on Glen Davis Road, eight kilometres east of Capertee at around 6am on Thursday.
Officers attached to Chifley Police District attended along with Fire and Rescue NSW, and SES and Rural Fire Service volunteers.
The man was found trapped inside the Pantech truck and died at the scene. The driver, and sole occupant, is yet to be formally identified.
A crime scene was established and specialist forensic officers examined the scene.
An investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash has commenced and anyone with information or dashcam footage is urged to come forward.

A report will be prepared for the information of the Coroner.
