The history-making sprinter, who became known as 'Richie', won Australia's richest race The Everest twice, as well as notching two Group One wins to drag in nearly $16.5 million across a glittering five-year career.
Redzel has several Central West links, with Frank Weymouth, Scott Rayner, Stuart Milne and Brett Ogston among those to have a stake in the horse managed by the Triple Crown syndicate.
Across 39 starts, Redzel nabbed an incredible 15 wins and another 13 placings to throw himself into the history books.
A statement on Triple Crown's website paid tribute to the "dream horse".
"His ownership group have today voted to call time on his glittering race career, one which spanned five years, yielded an astonishing $16,444,000 in prize-money and, most importantly of all, ends with a healthy horse and fond memories at the highest level," the statement said.
"Those who trained him said he's the most genuine horse who we're lucky to have.
"To Australian racing he will always be the king of the mountain."
His retirement comes in the same week as fellow Group One stars Happy Clapper, Alizee, Exceedance and Microphone all bowed out of the racing arena.
