The course is aimed at encouraging health professionals and students to enhance their delivery of health services to regional, remote and rural communities through telehealth.
"Since the COVID-19 outbreak, we have seen rise in interest and admission into the course," Service Coordinator Jacki Mansfield said.
"We have worked alongside an advisory board consisting of the university, Western and Murrumbidgee Local Health Districts and Western and Murrumbidgee NSW Primary Health Networks to provide information relevant to the course."
This course will be beneficial for patients and professionals as the Federal Government has expanded their temporary Medicare Benefits Schedule to bulk-bill services through telehealth services.
The course is split up into four external modules and is available for existing and prospective health professionals to access the information at their own convenience.
"Currently, we have 500 active learners in the course, and 100 people who have completed it to date," she said.
Some students who had their medical placements cancelled because of the COVID-19 restrictions have undertaken the online telehealth course to further their medical practice.
"With the coronavirus outbreak, we have seen a lot of nurses and community nurses enroll in the course."
"The training comes at a crucial time and is not only available for medical professionals but also those in administration and technology to up-skill."
