Our last day of bowls was Tuesday last week when we celebrated St Patrick's Day - what a fun day we had, all dressed in green and celebrated with lunch of green eggs and ham, mini pancakes, told Irish jokes and enjoyed the camaraderie we all expect with our Tuesday bowls.
During morning bowls, a circular was received being joint advice from WBNSW and BowlsNSW, announcing that all bowls is to be suspended immediately and indefinitely due to the Coronavirus.
The news left many bowlers a little shell shocked, however once the situation was fully discussed, it was agreed that such measures were needed to defeat this pandemic.
I was also encouraged by the optimism of members in attendance, and it is obvious that the Coronavirus will not diminish our enthusiasm to return to bowls.
The Prime Minister announced last Sunday, that clubs, hotels, pubs etc., were to close as from midday last Monday. This has placed severe limits on our club's facilities.
The office will remain operational Monday to Friday, with staffing from Management and the Board.
The locker room for bowls gear will be securely locked and please see the office staff if you need access to this area.
The greens staff will continue to maintain our greens, in readiness for our return to bowls at a later time.
Please refer to the club's website for information on the club's updated activities.
Of further interest to our club, WBNSW have issued an update, advising that WBNSW State Pennants (all disciplines and divisions), Weekend Pennants, Summer League, State Singles and Pairs Championships - all under review for now and until further notice.
Women's Bowls NSW continues with its direction that ALL bowling activities be suspended.
In readiness for Pennants, should the season be reviewed for a later start, is the good news that WBNSW has evaluated the Pennant Re-Grading for four of our members and we had a positive outcome. We have our Pennant teams now set to play and nowhere to go.
To all the ladies on the sick or injured list, we wish you well very soon. To those who have cancelled their holidays due to the current situation, know you will eventually get to take that planned time away but just have to wait a bit longer.
Anyone celebrating a birthday, many happy returns, we will catch up with the usual pressie when we return.
If anyone is feeling the pressure of solitude during the Corona Virus directives, please email or phone me on the details supplied in the Members Listing- always happy to have a chat.
Stay positive and healthy and know this pandemic will pass and we will resume bowls once again.
