Emily Mitchell, who has previously worked in communications with Orange360, started an Instagram page called orangesupportingorange.

After a little longer than a week, she already has more than 220 followers - the page reposts material from businesses' own pages advertising their COVID-19 measures so followers can access the information from a central location.

"In such uncertain times, we don't know what's going on from day to day and I thought the best way to deal with it was to take action," she said.

"Being a regional community, small businesses are everything - we're so spoiled for choice and we want to make sure that continues."

Ms Mitchell said feedback from followers had been positive, alerting her to posts she had not seen herself.

"And businesses are saying thank you for the support, and especially on social media it spreads quickly," she said.

"If it helps one business make a sale, it's worth it."

Most restaurants in Orange are offering takeaway or home delivery services, while some boutique clothing stores are offering one-on-one fittings and home delivery.

Everly Jewellers in Orange City Centre, Essential Ingredient in Summer Street and Eclectic in Anson Street are the latest retailers to announce they will close their shopfronts temporarily.

However, Eclectic will continue to trade, telling customers it would continue to market its products on social media and deliver goods to customers.
