The event cancellation comes after the Million Paws Walk was also called off in Orange last year due to a clash of dates and a lack of volunteers.
RSPCA NSW CEO Steve Coleman said participants are encouraged to fundraise in the lead up to the event with the money raised from online fundraising used to support RSPCA's work within the community, including caring for animals that come through its shelters each year.
"During this public health crisis, we will still be working to keep providing medical treatment, care, food and shelter for animals suffering cruelty and neglect," Mr Coleman said.
"With your support, we will still be supporting pet owners, investigating animal cruelty reports and ensuring animal welfare standards are upheld."
The day will be tied together using the hashtag #MillionPawsWalk and #MPWDOGSQUAD so all walkers can connect and share photos of their dogs and walk routes on social media.
