Family-owned 24-hour gym Snap Fitness has increased its cleaning regime and is reminding attendees to wipe down any equipment they use and bring a suitable towel.

Co-owner Jess Whiley said the family also owned a bacterial wipe company, Fast Wipes, which supplies several Snap gyms so there was no chance it would run out of supplies.

"We are cleaning three times a day at least," Mrs Whiley said.

She said being a 24-hour gym offered some challenges but people were urged to wash their hands before doing their workout and there were never 100 people in the gym at one time.

Mrs Whiley said it was important people continue to exercise for mental and overall health.

"We are trying to keep it open as long as we can," she said.

Curves Orange manager Val Myott said the women's gym is also focused on hygiene and all machines are disinfected every half hour.

"We're upping cleaning of the gym, we were always pretty good with it before," Ms Myott said.

"We are certainly adding to personal space, 1.5 metres, we've set up the space so they are not all on top of each other.

"The other thing we have is an option to work out at home."

The free Life Life Get Active exercise classes that were launched at the beginning of the month are temporarily postponed because trainer Neil Brydon is unavailable.

Mr Brydon said before the temporary shut down groups stopped using equipment and were doing body weight exercises.
