The kids at Orange Preschool, on Moad Street, hit the playground on Wednesday to help contribute to the fundraising efforts.
The preschool students completed laps of their yard and received a stamp for each lap they completed.
"There were a few arms with plenty of stamps," Annie Prevett said.
"They all had a bit of yellow or a bit of purple on and some kids did 20, some did 10 ... they kept going until they got a bit tired."
Mrs Prevett helped coordinate the fundraising efforts at the pre-school, with students bringing in a gold coin to add to the total the Dream to Dance team is building.
The Dream to Dance team, formed to help honour the memory of dance teacher Steph Sandford, who lost her battle with cancer in October 2019, is made up of students from the United Dance Project and their 45-strong contingent has already raised $7000.
Mrs Prevett and another of the Orange Preschool teachers, Katrina Holway, both have daughters as part of the Dream to Dance team.
... we thought this was a fun idea to (help raise money) and get the children here active as well.
- Annie Prevett
"Ever since we lost Steph we've all been wanting to help out and raise some money, and we thought this was a fun idea to do that and get the children here active as well," she said.
The Orange Preschool's mini-Relay for Life contributed $140 to the Dream to Dance team's efforts.
All proceeds raised from the Relay for Life go to the research, support and advocacy work of Cancer Council NSW.
Relay For Life is an overnight, community event where participants relay non-stop as they celebrate cancer survivors, remember those lost, and fight back against the disease by raising important funds.
The 2020 Relay for Life begins at 11am on Saturday, and the end time is 8am on Sunday.
