It comes in a difficult season that has seen the drought and inconsistent rains reduce the supply of apples from Orange region orchards.
Orchardist Peter West said reports from the Flemington Markets in Sydney indicated demand was down.
He said he did not know if it was linked to the coronavirus spread.
However, he said prices were holding because there was less fruit to sell.
Mr West said his crop of gala apples was down 25 per cent this year but was hoping other varieties still to be picked would be better after recent rains. "The later varieties are far better," he said.
Thornbrook Orchard's Paula Charnock said they had stopped pick-your-own due to concerns about some fruit with the drought and changing weather.
"We've been having an up and down season," she said.
Mrs Charnock said apple sales had been good at the Orange Farmers Market but farmgate sales were harder to judge in an inconsistent season.
