With the final round of the BOIDC being washed out over the weekend, the maroons claimed the first minor premiership of the re-united competition, harking back to season upon season of dominance in the old Bathurst and Orange competition before the two associations split after 2010.
It's a legacy which the current Cavaliers crop has lived up to, despite only one member of the 'glory days' - Chris Martin - making up the current side.
The resurgence has been led by the youth brigade in Bailey Ferguson, Kaleb Cook, Hugh Middleton, Charlie Greer and co., while Mitch Black has been damaging with ball in hand since moving from Wagga Wagga two seasons ago.
Skipper Matt Corben is another who wasn't a part of the last BOIDC triumphs, did experience the side's win in 2016-17, but that title was the club's first since 2009-10, which was the eighth title in a row straddling BOIDC and ODCA competitions.
However, he said the shadow of the club's greatest side wasn't being cast over the current young crop.
"Not really, we've had a couple of years with a really, really young squad and and it's hard to compare eras like that," Corben said.
"No-one's really compared us to the bombastic team of the 2000s, Chris Martin's the only player from that era but having him around gives a lot of confidence to the boys."
This weekend, the side will have the chance to charge straight into the BOIDC decider when Cavaliers clash with Orange City, and Corben said the squad's win in the Royal Hotel Cup would hold them in good stead going into finals.
"Every final you play is a step towards where you want to be and the whole playing group is taking confidence from that," he said.
The resurgence of the BOIDC competition hasn't just been good for Cavaliers, either, with Corben saying the standard had lifted across the board.
"It's made both associations better," he said.
"You look at it as a whole and the amount of 100s which have been scored and all that, it's been really good.
"It's really fun to captain against different sides and to have that challenge of coming up against different opposition, it's been great."
However well Cavaliers have fared in the season proper though, Corben knows while the minor premierships has been decided and the club has success behind it, it may not matter.
"Any club in the top four can win it," he said.
