Resident Aaron Pearson, who helped put together a petition to increase police presence in the town last year, said the RSL break-in "sent a shock through Molong".
He said residents he'd spoken to were more on edge over the past few weeks.
"I think it has changed with what's happened over the last few weeks," Mr Pearson said.
"That's my view, better security needs to be to tackled.

"We need to have a 24-hour police presence in Cabonne in general to give people some peace of mind and let them sleep at night."
Mr Pearson has spoken with Juarna Barnard, who helped organise the 2019 petition, and while the list of names was never tabled the pair decided re-launching it wouldn't help, with Mr Pearson set to contact Phil Donato in coming days.
Council debated installing CCTV six months ago, and while Cabonne mayor Beatty said the statistics "didn't warrant" installing cameras Mr Pearson now disagreed.
However, Cr Beatty said "everything was going quite well with policing".
"They were swift and quick onto that incident at the RSL club and identified the guy pretty quickly," Cr Beatty said.
"There's been not one person come up to me in the last few weeks who's asked or talked about crime."
Cr Beatty, who was a police officer in Molong for nearly a decade, said a permanent police presence wasn't required in the town or in surrounding villages like Cumnock and Manildra.
"The response time is quite swift as long as they have the police in those towns," he said.
