Since its inception in 2014, the NRL Nines has been regarded as a great opportunity for up and coming rugby league stars to strut their stuff ahead of the season and last month Molong's Cody Ramsey took that chance with both hands.

In addition to a flashy under 20s campaign in 2019, the St George Illawarra Dragons' youngster put together an epic nines tournament at Perth, earning himself a spot on the NRL side's development squad for the 2020 season.
The former Manildra Rhinos outside back has put in the hard yards throughout the summer and is stoked with the opportunity.
"It means a lot after how hard we've worked over the pre-season," Ramsey said.
"To get this off the back of the nines is good."
Not only was Ramsey rewarded for a strong showing at Perth, the development squad promotion is largely attributed to his pre-season, a process that Ramsey was delighted to be a part of.
"I found it pretty tough," Ramsey said.
"Just to see how your body develops over the time and how much you improve is amazing."
The reality is though, the campaign he had at Perth - which included a controversial, match-winning try against Penrith - was probably the deciding factor in whether he'd receive a spot on the training squad or not.
"That weekend will stick with me for a while," he said.
"I've gotten a lot of support for it which has been good."
An injury cloud has been hovering over the 20-year-old for the past couple of weeks but Ramsey's insistent his shoulder struggles are no more, and he'll be available to play on opening day.
"Shoulder's sweet, I'll be back round one," he said.
Ramsey's a plumber by trade and if all doesn't go to plan with the NRL, his boss has told him his job's safe back home.
"Work's stoked and they've always supported me so if anything goes bad I can always go back to them," he said.
