Meteorologists predict more rain on Wednesday and Thursday, with up to 20mm forecast to fall on each day.
Orange's official weather station at the airport received the most rain of any centre in the Central West in the last 24 hours, with other parts of town also enjoying strong falls.
Nearly 21mm fell in west Orange.
Across the west, Bathurst weather station, also at the city's the airport, recording 16.2mm while Forbes received good rainfall at 11.4mm.
Lithgow had 9.6mm and Young had 7.6mm, while Mudgee (4.6mm), Parkes (4.2mm) and Cowra (3.8mm) and Dubbo (1.4mm) were less fortunate.
That may change in the coming days though, with the impact of Tropical Cyclone Esther, which has made landfall near the border of NT and Queensland as a category one system, likely to stretch as low as the Central Tablelands.
