The landslide at Leura occurred following extremely heavy downpours on the weekend of February 8 and 9, when 259.4 millimetres of rain caused the landslide.

"Services will resume running between Springwood and Mount Victoria on Monday, March 2," Sydney Trains announced on Thursday.

"Our maintenance teams have worked tirelessly to rebuild the corridor following the landslip at Leura.

"It's been a huge job. Access was tough with narrow roads, thick mud and hazardous working conditions - but our teams worked hard to make sure the job was done safely."

The massive landslide, which put an immediate stop to train services, was the second closure to the rail route since December.

Bushfires that tore through the Blue Mountains during December and January left 25 kilometres of track significantly damaged between Mount Victoria and Lithgow, with thousands of kilometres of communication, electrical and signal wiring lost.

Meanwhile, a passenger who was on board one of the Sydney Trains services during the landslide praised the operator and it staff for their attention to passenger safety.
