Shelter coordinator T'mielle Bunt said there were 38 animals available for adoption at the Orange shelter.
"We only had two dogs left [by Sunday] and everything else was sold on Friday and Saturday," Miss Bunt said.
"Everyone knew what they wanted when they came in, they had a dog in mind or a cat in mind.
"Four or five people came in on the first day, all for the same dog."
The last animal to be adopted was Rocky, a three-year-old cattle dog cross mastiff who was adopted by Emily Scott, her partner James Culley and daughter Madeleine Baker, from Bathurst.
"We went over to Orange for lunch with the family and we had been following the RSPCA page and we noticed Rocky was the only one left so we felt a bit sad for him and decided to go and have a look," Miss Scott said.
"He was just beautiful so we put him in the car and took him home."
Miss Scott said Rocky had been at the Orange shelter for about five months.
"He's setting in really well, he's so happy in the backyard with a little bit more space," she said.
"He keeps jumping up and giving us cuddles."
Madeleine has also enjoyed having him at home.
"I really like him," she said, "I've played with toys with him".
Miss Scott said according to temperament assessments he had to be the only dog in the family but he should be OK with casts.
She said he has been good with her two cats since arriving but they haven't liked him and have kept to her bedroom.
Because Rocky had been at the shelter for so long his carers had become attached to him and there were a few tears when he left for his forever home.
"One of the girls started crying yesterday," Miss Scott said.

"I could see the love and care the workers have put into him."
She said they also gave her a follow up call on Monday to see how he was settling in.
The clear the shelters involved RSPCA shelters and Petbarn shops across Australia partnering up to offer $29 adoptions for all adoptable animals on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
Miss Bunt said 805 animals in total were adopted from the RSPCA during this year's campaign up from 763 last year.
She said there were still animals at the shelter but they were still undergoing behaviour and health assessments.
"We are never fully empty, we always have something," Miss Bunt said.
At Orange Petbarn two kittens and one cat were adopted.
A Petbarn spokeswoman said last week there were 545 adoptions from Petbarn stores across Australia and Petbarn Adoption Centres have rehomed 47,542 animals since 2012.
She said 100 per cent of adoption fees Petbarn collect go back to the shelter to help continue their work.
