Central West Extinction Rebellion member Kate Allan said individuals from across the community and were part of a larger initiative targeting MPs across the country.

Ms Allan said the vigil was being held in solidarity with the Quiet Australians Stand Up movement, which started in Sydney, and participants would demand Mr Gee's support for Warringah MP Zali Stegall's climate bill.

"There's a simplified outline, which is aiming to go to zero net carbon emissions by 2050," Ms Allan said.

"We are calling on Mr Gee to support this motion when it comes up."

She said they wanted Mr Gee to advocate on behalf of Calare constituents for evidence based climate policy, publicly support a conscience vote on the climate bill and vote in favour of the bill, and he would cross the floor if the government opposed a conscience vote and opposed the bill.

Ms Allan said the silent vigil was for people who were concerned about climate change and wanted to see action but were not the type of people to get up and yell.

Vigneron David Bell is one of the "quiet Australians" who is taking up the cause and joined the Extinction Rebellion.

Mr Bell said he was horrified by the bushfires in the last few months and with their connection to climate change was concerned such events would become a more regular occurrence.

"We are not listening to the science," he said.

The vigils will be held outside Mr Gees office in Anson Street on the next four Saturdays between 9.30am and 10.30am.
