Two P&O-style houses on Bathurst Road and two other properties around the corner on Cox Avenue have been sold at separate sales which were completed this week.
Last June, then owned by a D'Aquino Brothers company, the houses adjacent to the D'Aquinos liquor store complex on Bathurst Road were passed in at auction. They sold at separate sales less than a week later.
Initial selling agent Gary Blowes of Blowes Real Estate said after the sales went through Sydney company KordMentha, the appointed liquidators for D'Aquino Brothers-related companies, stepped in.
"Contracts were exchanged unconditionally. [But] the liquidators cancelled the sales," he said.
The sale prices were not disclosed at the time but the price guide for each property prior to the auction was $270,000-$290,000.
One Agency Orange director Ash Brown said the opportunity to re-sell the houses on behalf of the liquidators was put to tender and his agency won the right last September-October.
Mr Brown said they improved the appeal of the properties and put them up for sale late last year.
He said the new sale prices ranged from $330,000 for a P&O-style house to $289,000 for a Cox Avenue house and all sold for their asking price.
Mr Brown said one of the properties had since been been rented out.
He said two others were also likely to be rented while the fourth had been bought by an owner-occupier.
Mr Brown said it was an indication of the strength of the Orange market.
"It's very bouyant, both the sales market and the rental market [in Orange] are bouyant," he said.
One Agency agent assistant Roger Burrell said there had been a lot of interest in the four properties when they went on sale.
"We had over 60 people through the first property," he said.
Mr Burrell said there was a mix of local and outside-Orange people showing interest.
Several of the P&O-style houses are located around Orange.
While not heritage-listed the housing style is included in the Orange City Council Heritage Manual as primarily built from 1915-1940.
Last July the Federal Court ordered a second company within the D'Aquino Group, D'Aquino Bros, be wound up in addition to sister company Fernbrew over tax debts.
