Orange360 general manager, Caddie Marshall said the aim was to offer an engaging and contemporary celebration of one of Australia's most revered poets.
"We want to introduce the newer generations to the timeless themes and talents of Banjo and his writing," she said.
Among the popular events will be the popular night market at Robertson Park on from 5.30pm to 8.30pm on Friday.
The annual Banjo Paterson Poetry Competition will take place all day on Saturday at the Orange Ex-Services' Club and it will include poets of a wide range of ages and abilities.
On Sunday, the Rotary Club of Orange will host a family market day at the North Court at the corner of March and Peisley streets from 9am to 2pm.
On Thursday, Friday and Saturday mornings there will also be a Rotary breakfast and Poetry on the Pavers at the South Court outside the museum from 7.30am to 9am.
There will also be a poetry workshop led by poet Carol Heuchan at Duntryleague on Thursday.
On Friday there will be a poetry writers workshop from 1pm to 3pm. Phone 0417 648 125 to book.
On Friday night the Lord Anson will host a poets brawl with light-hearted and humorous poetry from 8.30pm to 10pm.
