One of a long-line of Holden fans, Brock Taylor owns a Holden HDT that Peter Brock was instrumental in building about 30 years ago and every year he barracked for Holden in the Bathurst 1000.
"I'm pretty shattered," Mr Taylor said.
"It's like a bit of Australia has gone, it's not good.
"Bathurst is not going to be the same, I've gone every years since 1993.
"Holden was more than just a car brand to me. It was something that was just part of me."
Mr Taylor said he had hoped the brand would make a comeback despite dwindling sales and the news that the it would be retired by the end of the year came a surprise.
"Ten years ago you never would have thought Holden would be gone," he said.
"I think the writing was on the wall when they stopped making the cars in Australia."
Mr Taylor said his grandfather Wally Taylor worked at former Holden dealer Camerons of Orange and as a result everyone in his family drove a Holden.
He described Christmas as being "like the Kerrigans," from The Castle, with people having to move the Holdens to fit others in.
