After Pat Williams and Luke D'Elboux snared the final 11 runs needed in their final-wicket partnership before Stu Middleton bowled the former just as they passed Cavs' total of 106.

Being put back in, Middleton top-scored with 42 while Mark Niederle made 38 to see the side to 7-160 from just 24 overs as Williams nabbed three wickets.

They only lasted 10 overs before rain came into play on Jack Brabham 4, but Nic Drage, after hitting 29 in the second dig, came out and took four wickets in just two overs.

He cleaned up Adam Smith, Harry West, Rohan Bouffler and Riley Wotton and with Middleton (2-29 from five) doing damage on a green deck at the other end, the rain couldn't come soon enough for CYMS, finishing on 6-72 from just 10 overs of batting.

In the other second-grade game, the rain robbed Centrals of second-innings points against Kinross.

After putting on 181 thanks to a 135-delivery 35 from Kyle Nonnemacher, Matt Burgess took four wickets to help skittle the students for just 105.

Nelson Shepherd scored a third of those in his 146-delivery 33, outdoing Nonnemacher's first-innings effort on a pitch which was obviously difficult to score on, with Stu Crisp hitting 21 off 69 to equally creep along in the 58-over innings.

Anthony Salmon and Stuart Pullar had 0-14 and 0-21 off extremely economical 10 overs, while Burgess' figures read 4-19 from his 10.

The students were sent in again 76 runs in arrears, and reached 4-39 from 21 overs before rain intervened.

Spring Hill's Mitch Harvey and Dallas March both scored 50s to hand the Wood Ducks a six-wicket win over CYMS Kellys, while Daniel Lamb took 4-11 to dismiss the green and golds for 138.

Centrals White were beaten by CYMS Bourkes by four wickets, while the other two games between Cavaliers and Wanderers and Gladstone and Orange City were declared draws.
