Central West Animal Rescue has close to 50 cats and kittens in care following what founder Jasmine Smart described as an horrific kitten season.
"It's worse than previous years that I've had in this area which doesn't make sense because we've had other rescues and vets doing programs," Ms Smart said.
She said the kitten season also started earlier than usual last year.
CWAR administration organiser Sam Johnson said the group's foster carers reached capacity with cats and kittens this year with some of the cats having litters after being rescued.
Miss Johnson said she had one cat that she rescued after it had been abandonned by her owners, who left her when they moved away, and she was eating birds to survive until Miss Johnson caught her.
Miss Johnson said it took her two weeks to catch the cat.
"After eight days I woke up to hear her meow," she Johnson said.
I'd love for them too see their forever home this weekend.

Miss Johnson said she put her hand into the cage to check on the cat and was surprised to grab a kitten.
She said another cat gave birth to six kittens two weeks after she was rescued.
"They are not kittens anymore, I'd love for them too see their forever home this weekend," Miss Johnson said.
Orange Vet Hospital practice manager Kim Dale said staff from the hospital felt a responsibility to help organisations such as Central West Animal Rescue where they could.
"[The hospital] provides quality veterinary care to animals that have been fortunate enough to be taken in by CWAR and given a second chance at life," she said.
"The CWAR organisation is run by a team of dedicated volunteers and foster carers who are passionate about animal welfare and we are pleased to be able to support them.
The adoption day will take place at Orange Vet Hospital at 57 Molong Road between 9am and 1pm on Saturday and people can take home their new family member that afternoon.
However, kittens that are too young to be adopted can be preordered.
There will be discounted adoptions on the day with animals costing $150 each which includes full vet work such as vaccinations, desexing and micro chipping.
Ms Smart said Love Loki accessories will also be sold with all proceeds going towards raising money to cover current vet bills.
"This is my company that I set up and 20 per cent of all sales all of the time through my business will go direct to CWAR," she said.
"I wanted to create another avenue of regular fundraising for us."
