Police found two other firearms hidden in a bedroom wall.
Brendon Scott Fliedner, 48, now of Margaret Street, was in the lounge room of the Ellard Street home when specialised police forced entry into the house on February 12, 2019, as part of an investigation into gun possession.
In addition to the guns found in the bedroom, which Fliedner was not charged for, the police found a Lithgow 0.22 calibre rifle in a hallway.
The rifle was stolen from another Orange location on January 26, 2019, and although it was located outside his bedroom, Fliedner denied seeing it.
Because he was in the house, magistrate David Day convicted him for possession of the rifle and gave him a 12-month community correction order requiring rehabilitation and supervision.
Mr Day said the the time of possession was "quite short" and although Fliedner had prior convictions they were not for related offences.
