Roundhouse Entertainment promoter Michael Newton announced on Saturday the music festival will return to Heifer Station later this year, "all things going to plan."

"But things don't always go to plan. With these international acts we're only one date on a world tour, so things can change," he said.

Originally Kylie Minogue had been scheduled for the inaugural show, until her itinerary changed and Cold Chisel announced their world tour.

Roundhouse Entertainment was currently in the process of locking in a headliner for its next Orange show, which it hopes to announce in March.

Mr Newton said as with any new event there had been some "teething problems", including long wait times for attendees leaving the festival.

"We hope to get the use of another road in and out of the venue which we weren't allowed to use this time," he said.

"It'll take the pressure off for cars trying to get out and mean the buses will just keep flowing."

Mr Newton said it was also disappointing that the green paddocks they'd seen in June had turned to dust over Summer, which bought home the reality of the drought in the region.

"I thought the site worked well and the owners have done a lot of work with the help of Cabonne and Orange City Council," he said.

"It's not unusual in Australia to get temperatures like we had when you're doing an outdoor show. You don't know what you're going to get until you get it."

Roundhouse Entertainment plan to host two A Day on the Green shows in Orange each year for the next three years.
