To borrow a well-worn rugby league cliche, Heidi Regan is taking it one game at a time.

The Cargo fullback's next game, though, just so happens to be the biggest of her young career.
Preferring to play for the love of it rather than set any lofty goals, Regan has been picked as part of Malta's Dames squad to take part in the Konami International 9s at Cabramatta.
Regan's Maltese heritage comes from her grandmother and she jumped as the chance to be part of an international squad after the Malta Rugby League put the feelers out to the Western Rams looking for interested players.
Regan has been part of the Western Women's Rugby League training squad and has been keeping fit at the gym, while also playing a little bit of touch, after a stunning WWRL campaign with the Vipers.
She starred at fullback for the black and teals on their way to the first grade premiership in the club's first year back in the top flight.
If a door opens then that's great, but I'm really just enjoying being out there at the moment.

And although the weekend's international fixtures will be the biggest step in her time in rugby league, she's just hoping to enjoy the experience.
"I don't really hope to go anywhere. I'm not aiming for anything. I just love the sport so I'll keep playing. If a door opens then that's great, but I'm really just enjoying being out there at the moment," she said.
"I went to training last weekend at Woolongong and we had a bit of game towards the end of the session. It was a little different playing nines to the 11-a-side stuff we're used to, but I'm hoping I go alright."
Regan says she's enjoyed training with the Western women side - Jess Skinner's Rams squad will play a trial game this weekend ahead of their bumper 2020 campaign - and can't wait for the league tag season to start with the Blue Heelers come the start of April.
