Second and third grader Phil Jobs has taken the reins of the side after injury forced him off the field for season 2020, and he's said he's a stickler for technicalities.
"I'm a stickler for technique, especially rucks" he said laughing.
"I've played flanker my whole life so rucking is a big thing and defence is something I'll be pushing the boys on.
"A nice rucking technique really gets me going."
Although he certainly will be looking to keep the fun in rugby, Jobs said he'll be looking to bridge the gap between the junior and senior clubs.
It's his first time ever coaching, and coaches all around Emus have offered to come down and give Jobs a hand.
"It'll be good to get the first grade coaches down there. It's not just this year but it's getting them keen for next year and for seniors and all that, obviously that's the gap colts was bridging, where we have problems getting people to stay from under 17s to Colts," he said.
"So to get premiership winning coaches down to help out will help keep them keen for senior rugby."
Jobs jumped between second and third grade last season, with the former Grenfell junior hit by injury.
"I playing last year but did my should, had surgery in September so obviously can't play this year but want to still be around the club a little bit and Nigel gave me a bell and asked me if I wanted to have a crack at under 18s," he said.
"I don't know a lot about them, I don't think they had a crash hot season last year but I want to get in their ears and get them coming down to training."
While Colts struggled last year for numbers, Jobs said he thinks "we should be right" for numbers, and it was about trying to get the younger boys teed up with seniors.
"We're trying to get most games lining up with senior games, but with games like Narromine we won't. So we'll get on the bus to Narromine and have some fun there."
