Middleton hit 54 off just 28 deliveries, with five boundaries and two sixes making up his powerful innings at number three, as skipper Matt Corben (37 not out) and Bailey Ferguson (33) helped push Cavaliers' total to 6-164.
George Cumming dismissed big brother Angus, having the Cavaliers all-rounder caught on the fence by Mac Webster to spark the sibling rivalry, and the younger Cumming's two wickets helped drag Kinross back into the game.
Ed Taylor and Stu Crisp came back at the death and went for just 19 and 18 runs apiece from their four overs, with Crisp bowling Mitch Black and Taylor castling Chris Martin.
However, the students didn't carry the momentum into their innings, losing three wickets in the first three overs to the bowling of Black.
The wily off-spinner finished with 4-16 from his four overs, removing Crisp, Ollie Hoskin and both Harry and Tim May, snaring four of the top five.
Martin took 3-10 from three and Mark Maybin 1-15 from four as Cavaliers strangled Kinross,.
The side did mount a mini fightback through Hoskin (16) and Webster (32), but they were the only two to reach double figures as they were skittled for 72 from 18.4 overs.
