Don't miss your last opportunity to see this survey of ceramics by one of our region's most significant artists before it closes at 4pm on Monday 27 January.
The exhibition provides a comprehensive account of Ros Auld's work from the 1970s to the present, introducing previously unseen works alongside cast bronzes, signature vessels, wall pieces, sculptures and collaborations.
Over the past four decades Auld has been on an adventure in ceramics, pushing the medium in unexpected and personal ways as she responds to the Australian environment.
What is striking about her work is that she doesn't depict her surroundings in a literal way.
The landscape seems to be present in her work through a kind of osmosis.
Auld's work has a mysterious quality of being imbued with her experiences of particular places.
We recognise in these works those things which we know from our own experience, but they are presented to us in new way.
We have been delighted by the response to 'Adventures in Ceramics' with close to 3000 visitors from NSW, VIC, WA, Korea, USA, Canada, and the UK since it opened in December last year.
Ros Auld has clearly left a personal impression on many people, while making a great contribution to cultural tourism, as can be seen from our visitor's book.
Anne and Gary from the Hunter region wrote; "Travelled from the Hunter to see Ros Auld exhibition - so glad we did. Inspirational!"
Shelly from Freemantle, WA wrote that "Ros Auld's exhibition is amazing" while Rita and John from the UK thought it was "very good."
Nai from Austin, Texas commented that it is an "excellent exhibition!"
Patricia wrote: "My appreciation of these works would be best expressed in clay - words aren't enough."
It's great to see audiences engaging with ceramics in this way.
One of our world's most ancient art forms is apparently still resonating with audiences in our digital age.
Orange Regional Gallery is open daily from 10am to 4pm and entry is free.
