Peter Herbert, along with wife Joanne and son Louis will have a busy day visiting the various events in towns and villages across the shire.
However, with 12 years of being an ambassador under his belt, Mr Herbert said he is prepared and will bring his wife Joanne and son Louis so they can also see the area.
"I have a prepared speech but it's never delivered as it's prepared. The speech itself changes according to the people I meet," Mr Herbert said.
"We always make a point of getting there early so we will travel around so we know something about the region."
Through his career, Mr Herbert has been associated with national and international companies, including Crawford Productions and Granada, and began his career writing and producing for television classics such as The Sullivans, Cop Shop, The Flying Doctors, The Comedy Company and Acropolis Now.
He produced the inaugural Comedy Festival Charity Gala in 1992 and created the World Comedy Tour in 2000.
Mr Herbert produced the 34th annual TV Week Logie Awards and created or co-created a number of series, in the United Kingdom.
I have vivid memories of the people I've met, it's really fun to hear people's stories, to hear what they have done.
- Cabonne Australia Day ambassador Peter Herbert
He also taught university level screen business, creative industries and production and is head of Screen Business and Producing at the Australian Film Television and Radio School.
Mr Herbert lives in Sydney but grew up in Gippsland and he visits different regional and rural communities each year for the awards and enjoyed hearing the inspiring stories from the different communities he visits.
"I originally came from the country and I really love country towns," Mr Herbert said.
"You learn a lot about the country and you learn a lot about how towns in the country work and what they do."
He said he enjoyed and was inspired by the citizenship ceremonies, scholarship and awards presentations, seeing the hard work of communities and committees, as well as seeing people in their 80s be recognised for a lifetime of achievements.
He said he still keeps in touch with some of the people he's met at the various Australia Day events including people from bushfire affected areas at Narooma and Bombala.
"I have vivid memories of the people I've met, it's really fun to hear people's stories, to hear what they have done," Mr Herbert said.
Mr Herbert, accompanied by youth ambassador Hudson Izzard, of Canowindra, and mayor Kevin Beatty.
They will visit Mullion Creek at 8am for a community breakfast and awards ceremony, they will travel to Cargo for the presentation of awards and morning tea at 10.30am before attending a citizenship ceremony and awards presentation at Canowindra at 1.30pm.
Cabonne residents will also mark Australia Day with celebrations at Borenore, Cudal, Cumnock, Eugowra, Manildra, Molong and Yeoval.
