Colour City Dragons club president David Ball said paddles would be supplied.
"Wear comfortable clothes and covered shoes you don't mind getting wet," he said.
The event, from 10am-1pm this Sunday is free. Children must be 12 or older to participate.
"Dragon boating is a sport suitable for all ages and fitness levels to try, whether it be for fitness, friends, competition or fun," he said.
"Paddlers will have the opportunity to talk to current paddlers to get a real feel for what is involved and what it is like to go to regattas.
"Taking part in a Come and Try session is a great way to get started."
