New Zealand-bred Rinviata, which is trained by Matthew Dale and was ridden by Matthew Cahill, was just over half a length behind the Mudgee trainer's mare in the $32,000 feature.
Orange trainer Peter Cornish's Athena's Voice ran third, just over a length behind Mackellar's Love, who bolted out to a massive lead with 1000m to go, but the pack, led by Rinviata and Athena's Voice, who just ran out of time to overtake the leading mare.
Greg Hook's Subway Surfer and Karen Outtrim's Dragon's Shadow finished neck-and-neck behind Cornish's mare.
