NRMA spokeswoman Bridget Ahern said Sydney prices were well above Orange's prices at present.
"Significantly you are much lower than Sydney. Orange is one of the cheaper ones," she said.
Ms Ahern said Sydney fuel prices for unleaded petrol were 160-179 cents a litre.
According to the Fuel Watch website Orange petrol stations were selling unleaded petrol on Sunday afternoon from 138.5-143.9 cents a litre.
"One hundred per cent fill up in Orange, or even better in Bathurst," she said.
Bathurst's unleaded prices ranged from 135.5-137.9 cents a litre on Sunday afternoon.
"Regional prices are fairly confident and fairly stable [at the moment]. Orange is fairly about average," she said.
Ms Ahern said the bushfires and school holidays had not had any effect on petrol prices in the Central West.
She said motorists could use the Fuel Watch website to compare fuel prices.
"We always encourage people to exercise their consumer rights," she said.
The latest weekly fuel report from the NRMA, released last Tuesday, found average regular unleaded prices fell 0.1 cents per litre across NSW while diesel prices were stable.
It said global oil prices rose marginally last week but price movements were "quite erratic."
Factors included rising Middle East tensions between the US and Iran, a reduced supply as OPEC oil output fell in December as Iraq and Nigeria tightened compliance with quotas and rising US crude stockpiles.
