Cook Park will again host Orange's big party which kicks off with a community breakfast at 8am.

The official ceremony starts at 9am with wheelchair tennis star David Hall introduced as our Australia Day amabassador from 9.30am.

A citizenship ceremony follows at 10am followed by the announcement of Orange's Local Citizen of the Year, Young Citizen of the Year, Community Group of the Year, Community Event of the Year and Business Philanthropy awards from 10.30am.

It's a great chance to wear the national colours as The Central Western Daily is sponsoring a Best Dressed Competition on the day.

In Cabonne Council's area TV show writer and producer Peter Herbert will be in for a busy time as he tours three of the 10 villages hosting Australia Day ceremonies.

Mr Herbert, Cabonne mayor Kevin Beatty and Cabonne's Australia Day youth ambassador Hudson Izzard will visit a community breakfast and awards ceremony from 8am at Mullion Creek, a morning tea and awards presentation at Cargo from 10.30am and a citizenship ceremony and awards presentation at Canowindra from 1.30pm.

Cabonne council spokesman Dale Jones said Mr Herbert would be shown around the region the day before by council's tourism and community development co-ordinator Lynn Hawkes.

Mr Jones said, if there was time, it would be a good chance for young people interested in a career in the TV industry to speak to Mr Herbert who is now the head of Screen Business and Producing at the Australian Film Television and Radio School.
